We are proud that you have chosen to become a member of our growing 51 family! In order to assist you with your transition to 51, all new students are required to attend Orientation*.This is a 1-day program, educating you on the many services that 51 has to offer. In addition to learning more about 51, this orientation program will answer questions you may have about college and help you begin to build a strong success network at 51. Sample Schedule (pdf)

Military & Veterans have the option to attend a veteran-specific track that is embedded in each of the two programs listed below. The military & veteran track includes such information as, information about your military & veteran benefits, how they apply to your account, and more.

By definition, apost-traditional studentis one or more of the following:

  • 21 years of age or older
  • Married, divorced or widowed
  • Has parental responsibilities
  • Has served or is currently serving in the US military

*Advising and course registration is NOT included as part of the orientation programfor post-traditional or veteran students.You are eligible to be advised and registeras soon you have beenaccepted to the university, and confirm your enrollment.Once you have paid the $75 Enrollment Confirmation Fee, you may contact your advisor and make an appointment. We encourage you to do so as soon as possible!

Online Student Orientation

All students accepted into an online program will automatically be enrolled in the online student orientation. You will need your 51 user ID (from your letter of acceptance) and to access the orientation. The orientation is delivered online via . After logging into Canvas, you can in which you are enrolled, including the online student orientation. For questions about the online student orientation, please email orientation@nku.edu.


Step 1: Register for Orientation


Within 2 business days of paying your $75 Enrollment Confirmation Fee, you will receive an email (to the email address you listed on your application to the university) with a personal invitation to register for Orientation. That email will contain a personal reservation code and a link. Step 2: Pay Your Orientation Fee

Each student participating in Orientation must pay a $100 fee. You can pay your Orientation Fee by logging into your My51 account, selecting "Student Billing," and then selecting "Orientation & Confirmation Fees."
